Dancing in the Spirit and Dancing with Learned Steps |
|
Dance can be spontaneous and an outward expression of our passion for the Lord in the midst of praise and worship. We can also use learned steps dance to glorify the Lord. Choreographed dance is much like our songs of worship, which we learn and sing many times. One is not less important, but both singing in the spirit and singing our choruses and hymns are precious to God and his people who worship in spirit and in truth. (see Ephesians 5:19 and Psalm 33:3) Both glorify God. |

In Jewish culture, people learn dances and pass them down to the next generation. We also see where David danced with exuberant and spontaneous leaping and spinning. Paul said, “So what shall I do then, I will pray in the spirit and I will pray in my understanding.” Do you think that what Paul wrote about praying could fit dance as well -- Let us dance in the spirit and dance with our learned steps as well. |
